Whatever floor you park on...walk to the elevator and press the button to go down to the 2nd floor. This will guide you into the hospital.

Love the lights that hang from the ceiling to let you know if a spot is occupied or not. While this doesn't always work because people park crooked it is a great feature.

We always find parking space without a problem and our walk to elevators always met a polite person. We’ve never encountered a rude or impolite person. I’m glad we do our medical procedures there.

(This is the deck for UAB E.R., and since some construction is underway, I'm not sure what will stay as it is and what may change.) Based on my visit recently, when my husband had to go to an Emergency Room, he chose UAB. The 4th Ave Parking Deck is where I was instructed to go after dropping him off. I was immediately impressed with the lights over EACH parking space indicating if the spot was available or not (no need to drive up every row). When I went to my car from the E.R. for something, I actually had to cross the street before taking an elevator to the level I'd parked on. I *think* that after the work is done, there will be a way to access the deck from the ER without going outside.... Not sure). The kiosks for paying before exiting were conveniently placed, and I happened to be on the level where an Information Desk is. I heard the employee on the desk interact with several "lost" families and actually had to tell her what an asset she is to UAB/Kirklin (I honestly didn't/don't know where I was, for sure!!) due to her amazingly good attitude and helpfulness. I was IMPRESSED! My husband received excellent care with loads of attention from so many very nice, knowledgeable staff and doctors in the Emergency Room that we will never choose to go elsewhere. (He is doing okay, BTW) This could really be a review of the entire UAB Medical System, starting with that 4th Ave Parking Deck...... A++ for ALL of it.

This WAS the 1st fully automated self park I have ever used or seen. Since my ticket was " validated ", I didn't even have to stop. ( somehow ) it KNEW & RAISED the GATE.

Easy in, easy out, parking spaces have red lights or green lights to indicate whether or not the space is occupied so that you don't have to look so critically to find an open space. They also have license plates, readers that are integrated with the system that when you check out you don't even have to present a card or a ticket to get out the system. It reads your license plate and the gate goes up on exit. How nice is that?

I like how you pay at the kiosk in the hospital. As you leaving the parking deck you don't have put a card nor the ticket in at the exit gate. It has car tag recognition.

Reasonably priced parking with indoor access to the hospital. They have lights over each parking spot so you can easily see if a spot is open. When you first enter, you get a ticket that has your license plate on it. When you're leaving the hospital, there's a little kiosk where you pay. Then it registers your license plate is paid. So you when you get to the exit gate the gate just pops open for you and you go on your way. It's a pretty slick system. It felt safe and clean. You can pretty much get anywhere in the hospital from here without going outside.
